Griffin McGahey serves as the President of HC3, a document management company that helps clients communicate with their customers in meaningful ways. A resident of Birmingham, AL, Griffin McGahey leads the executive team in realizing the goals of the company.
HC3’s team of employees is enhanced by college interns who play an important role in the company. Internships provide a valuable way for students to gain experience in their desired industry.
One study found that students who completed an internship were 13 percent more likely to find a job. However, some internships consist of menial tasks, such as getting coffee and making copies. The HC3 program is different.
HC3 allows students who are interested in IT and software development to apply their knowledge to actual projects in the company and gain real-world experience that will help them in their professional life. That professional life may even be at HC3 – four previous interns have been hired by the company.
Griffin McGahey and his wife knew two things: they wanted to stay in their neighborhood in Birmingham, AL, and they needed more living space. Jennifer and Griffin McGahey, who is president of the company HC3, lived in a house with three bedrooms and two baths, but they wanted a bedroom for each of their two young sons and a guest room for visitors. They decided to renovate their house, and they hired architect Scott Carlisle for the job.
The focus of the renovation was spaciousness. All but two interior walls were removed and a second floor was added. In the end, the house went from 2,200 square feet to 3,700 square feet.
The home now features a spacious open floor plan in which the kitchen, dining area, and living room flow into each other. High ceilings and lots of light create a sense of space throughout the home. The renovation allowed the McGaheys to create a space that matched their needs.
