HC3 Internship Offers Real-World Experience

HC3 Founder Raises Roof for a Spacious Home

Griffin McGahey and his wife knew two things: they wanted to stay in their neighborhood in Birmingham, AL, and they needed more living space. Jennifer and Griffin McGahey, who is president of the company HC3, lived in a house with three bedrooms and two baths, but they wanted a bedroom for each of their two young sons and a guest room for visitors. They decided to renovate their house, and they hired architect Scott Carlisle for the job.

The focus of the renovation was spaciousness. All but two interior walls were removed and a second floor was added. In the end, the house went from 2,200 square feet to 3,700 square feet.

The home now features a spacious open floor plan in which the kitchen, dining area, and living room flow into each other. High ceilings and lots of light create a sense of space throughout the home. The renovation allowed the McGaheys to create a space that matched their needs.
